De la catastrophe au Pakistan à l’eunomie internationale

35 millions de personnes déplacées, des milliers de morts, la destruction massive des champs et du bétail, la famine et les épidémies à venir, ne seront pas surmontées sans repenser profondément les systèmes mis en avant par les « pays du Nord ». Comme partout ailleurs, le jeu de la dette a enrichi les élites locales pour les asservir aux intérêts des États-Unis pendant la guerre froide, puis la guerre au terrorisme. C’est ensuite aux pauvres qu’on demande de rembourser cette dette dans le cadre du plan d’austérité imposé par le Fonds Monétaire International.
Le Pakistan est aux abois.

Puissances et puissants n’oublieront certes pas qu’il détient l’arme atomique. Leurs intentions ne bénéficieront donc durablement qu’aux affairistes de l’aristocratie, de l’immobilier et de l’armée.

Voyons plutôt qu’une catastrophe de cette ampleur peut donner le départ à l’élaboration collective d’un ordre international alternatif qui traiterait sérieusement des questions posées par l’histoire mondiale des injustices, de l’impérialisme et du capitalisme. Une telle perspective associerait les initiatives de ceux qui, au Nord de la planète, combattent le militarisme, le nationalisme et l’addiction aux énergies fossiles, avec celles de ceux qui, au Sud, combattent l’exploitation par les élites locales, les pays étrangers, et les institutions financières internationales.

En d’autres termes, plutôt que de s’en tenir à de très limitées et temporaires initiatives humanitaires, il est ici question de prendre appui sur les contradictions du présent pour imaginer et construire un autre avenir pour tous, qui soit durable, solidaire et audacieux.

Rather, let us see that a catastrophe of this magnitude can be the starting point for the collective elaboration of an alternative international order that would seriously address the questions posed by the global history of injustice, imperialism and capitalism. Such a perspective would combine the initiatives of those in the global North who are fighting militarism, nationalism and fossil fuel addiction, with those in the South who are fighting exploitation by local elites, foreign countries and international financial institutions.

In other words, rather than limiting ourselves to very limited and temporary humanitarian initiatives, we need to take advantage of the contradictions of the present to imagine and build another future for all, one that is sustainable, supportive and daring.
